Almost a year ago, I wandered into Seed, lured by their promise of 70% off. On the sale rack, I discovered a gorgeous silver midi skirt. I’m late to the metallic clothing party, but what can I say, I’m an old-fashioned gal. Buying something so very sparkly seemed a bold fashion choice, I loved how fun and swishy the skirt was, so I took the plunge. I’ve been finding new ways to style a silver midi skirt ever since.
I decided to see how many ways I could wear this skirt, and have been pleasantly surprised by its versatility. Below are three looks I created for casual, professional and party scenarios. I have to apologies for the photo quality. This was one of my first DIY fashion photo shoots and I was struggling to get everything in focus. Lessons learnt for next time!
Dressed down for a classy casual outfit
A good striped top is the holy grail of clothing because it will go with anything, including a shimmery silver skirt. The shirt and white sneakers keep things comfy and casual, but the skirt gives the whole thing a fun lift and makes you look like you put a lot more thought into this look than you actually did. Winning.
Pair with black for a fun work look
There is nothing more femininely professional than a pussy bow top, and the black helps to tone down the skirt enough for a professional setting. This look would also be amazing for a date night, so you can go day to night in this baby.
Add a pop of red for a glamorous party ensemble
If you’re going to be dramatic, why not go all out? The bold red sets off the silver skirt, while the sweet ruffles give some dimension to your top half, which is great if you tend to have narrow shoulders.
As you can see, a metallic midi-skirt is actually super versatile and can be worn on multiple occasions. You could recreate these looks with a metallic skirt in any colour as well, there’s no need to stick to silver with all those lovely shades out there. Go forth duckies and sparkle!
