Every year I buy one or one set of Christmas tree decorations. I started this a year or two after my wedding, when I realised that I had almost no Christmas ornaments at all. Instead of getting a lot of plastic ornaments from Kmart in one go, I wanted to slowly build a beautiful tree that would reflect our family, become heirlooms and support small businesses.
Last year, I managed to get my hands on a dala horse ornament from Maryfrances Carter, a small pottery business in North Carolina. She makes the most gorgeous blue and white china, but only does small pre-order releases. I’ve never been able to score any other pieces, as the timezone difference means everything is sold before I wake up. However, if you’re in the US or willing to stay up late (as I did for the horse) you can get beautiful pieces.
This year, stymied by the time zones, I looked to Etsy and England. I found the most darling ceramic stars from Shoreline Ceramics. The set of five stars was reasonably priced for a handmade item, and shipped very quickly. Libby, who owns the shop, kept in touch with me about the shipping and was so lovely to talk to. She made the purchasing process so easy and the product I received was just as described.
If you’re looking for some new Christmas ornaments, I couldn’t recommend Shoreline Ceramics highly enough. There are lots of other designs there, not just Christmas things, so check out her shop to see if something catches your eye.
This is not a sponsored post, I just love these designs and wanted to spread the Christmas cheer!
