farewell

The 24 in 2024 reading challenge is complete, and with it my blog writing.

The blog writing years have covered grief, loss, infertility, buying and renovating a house, getting a dog and reading countless books. Writing has been an outlet when dealing with hard emotions, or when faced with another dull covid lock down or hard week at work.

But now that we’re deep in renovation, I’m finding I have less time and less desire to write. There’s so much to do! As the house as moved towards ‘completion’ (if such a thing exists), I’m spending more time in the garden. Disconnecting from the screen to plant, water and watch things come to life has been wonderful. Part of closing the blog is born out of this desire to be online less and more present in the world. If I’m not blogging, it also means I can look at my Instagram usage, and maybe get off altogether.

Waiting for Olives has served its purpose. I wanted a creative and emotional outlet at a time when I lived in small rentals and struggled with unexpected problems. But things have changed, and it’s good to recognise when it’s time to change things up to match that.

I didn’t want to just let the blog trickle away, to sit orphaned and out of date. I wanted to give it closure, not just for myself but also for my readers. So, this is it. The final post for the blog. Bittersweet, but I’m so happy that I gave this a good long go.

Farewell and fair weather to you all!

farewell

The blog will remain up until early next year when my subscriptions are ending. Until that time, you’re welcome to read through the posts. I won’t be checking comments, but it’ll be there for you to enjoy or revisit if you’d like. In early 2025, I’ll be taking it all down for my own privacy and to declutter my digital life.

Thank you for reading over the last three and a half years. It’s been a lovely way to keep in touch with friends and family and hopefully offer some help or entertainment to all of you.

All the best! God bless!
Maddie
